EFCC Investigates Bank Executives and Bobrisky
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating several bank executives for various offenses, according to Wilson Uwajaren, Director of Public Affairs ¹. Five bank executives are currently serving jail terms, and more are under investigation. Uwajaren emphasized that bank MDs are not immune to investigations or prosecution.
Additionally, the EFCC has submitted a preliminary report on the investigation of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, to President Bola Tinubu ¹. The commission is also probing allegations against controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, who claimed to have bribed EFCC officers with N15m to drop money laundering charges.
EFCC Achievements Under Olukoyede:
- Recovered ₦248bn
- Prosecuted four former governors and three former ministers
- Secured 3455 convictions across all categories of financial crimes and corruption
- Convicted over 35 individuals for Naira abuse, including Bobrisky and Nollywood actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin ¹
The EFCC denied Bobrisky’s allegations and set up a committee to investigate the matter. If found false, Bobrisky could face fresh charges ¹.
