NNPC Truck Driver Arrested for Diverting 10,000 Liters of Fuel
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested Afeez Adegbola, a truck driver for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), for allegedly diverting 10,000 liters of petrol ¹ ² ³ ⁴.
Arrest Details
Adegbola was arrested on Friday at 8:21 p.m. alongside his two motor boys by the Osun Command of the NSCDC. The truck, with registration number AGG 959 XA, was loaded with 40,000 liters of petrol at Pinnacle Distribution Depot in Eleko, Lagos State, destined for NNPCL Mega station in Osogbo.
Investigation Findings
Following a tip-off, NSCDC officers trailed the truck and discovered that only 30,000 liters were delivered to the NNPCL filling station. The remaining 10,000 liters were being discharged at TEMPOLA filling station in Ikirun.
Confessional Statement
The suspects confessed that they were directed by their company to deliver only 30,000 liters to NNPCL Mega station and divert the remaining 10,000 liters to a private filling station.
NSCDC Response
NSCDC Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo condemned the act as economic sabotage and stealing, warning stakeholders involved in petroleum distribution to desist from such activities or face prosecution ¹ ² ³ ⁴.
