President Bola Tinubu Orders State Burial for Late Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja

President Bola Tinubu has directed that the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, be given a state burial, according to an announcement made by Major General Kamal Yusuf, leader of a Nigerian Army delegation ¹. The burial will take place at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, where national heroes are honored.
Yusuf, a classmate of Lagbaja at the Nigerian Defence Academy, described the late General as a dedicated officer who led from the front and earned steady promotions throughout his career ¹. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, commended Tinubu’s decision, praising Lagbaja as “a bright star of Osun and Nigeria dimmed too early” ¹.
The Army has assured that community projects initiated by Lagbaja in Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin Osun will be completed ¹. Arrangements have been made to accommodate family members who wish to attend the burial.
