Ogun PDP accuses APC of plotting to block participation in LG poll

Ogun State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to block its participation in Saturday’s local government elections. Abayomi Tella, Ogun PDP Chairman, alleged that the APC is resorting to tactics like disrupting party congresses, submitting parallel candidate lists, and filing baseless lawsuits to sideline the opposition ¹.

The lawsuit, filed by former PDP chairman Sikirullahi Ogundele, seeks to disqualify PDP candidates, claiming they aren’t officially recognized party members. Tella views this as an attempt by the state government to destabilize the party. Notably, the suit was filed after the deadline for objections to candidate nominations.

Tella expressed concerns about Justice Sunday Adeniyi’s impartiality, citing his past affiliation with the APC and appointment by Governor Abiodun. Meanwhile, Ogun APC Publicity Secretary Tunde Oladunjoye dismissed the allegations, attributing them to internal PDP divisions.

The case is scheduled for hearing on Thursday, ahead of the local government polls.
