Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky has filed a N1.2 billion lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Assembly for alleged rights violations. Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, claims the EFCC invited him for investigation based on an unverified WhatsApp phone call published by activist VeryDarkMan, without proper investigation ¹.
The controversy surrounding Bobrisky began with allegations of paying EFCC officials N15 million to drop money laundering charges. He was later sentenced to six months in prison for abusing the naira, but served the sentence in a private apartment ² ³.
In the lawsuit, Bobrisky seeks:
- N200 million from EFCC: for psychotic trauma and mental torture caused by the commission’s actions.
- N1 billion from the National Assembly: for violating his right to fair hearing and privacy.
The court document, dated October 10, prohibits the EFCC and National Assembly from harassing, detaining, or declaring Bobrisky wanted.
