Social media critic Martins Ortse, aka VeryDarkMan, has labeled Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman Ola Olukoyede “incompetent” for failing to arrest former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello despite declaring him wanted since April. Bello faces charges for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering offenses during his governorship ¹.
VeryDarkMan criticized Olukoyede’s handling of the case, highlighting the EFCC’s ability to arraign over 100 people within the same period, with the total amount involved being less than N120 million, significantly lower than Bello’s alleged offenses.
Olukoyede’s appointment as EFCC Chairman has been controversial, with some questioning his eligibility due to his background as a private legal practitioner rather than a law enforcement officer ¹. Despite this, the President’s Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, defended Olukoyede’s appointment, citing his experience as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of the EFCC and Secretary to the Commission ¹.
