Private Ruth Ogunleye, a female Nigerian soldier, has been discharged from service after accusing senior officer Colonel I.B Abdulkareem of sexual harassment.<\/p>\n

Back in January 2024, Ogunleye took to her TikTok page, @Ogunleyeruthsavage1, to allege that Abdulkareem, along with Colonel G.S Ogor and Brigadier General I.B Solebo, had made her life unbearable .<\/p>\n

She claimed Abdulkareem attempted to assault her, administered injections against her will, forcibly removed her from her residence, and confined her to a psychiatric hospital for months after she rejected his advances.<\/p>\n

Following these serious allegations, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, ordered a thorough investigation. The Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, recently addressed journalists in Abuja, stating that after an exhaustive review of facts, testimonies, and evidence, it was determined that Abdulkareem did not commit the alleged offences.<\/p>\n

The Nigerian Army took immediate action upon receiving Ogunleye’s complaint, referring the matter to the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police for a thorough investigation. Every effort was made to ensure a fair and impartial process.<\/p>\n

The investigation concluded that Abdulkareem did not commit sexual harassment as alleged by Ogunleye, with findings based on an objective evaluation of available information.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Ogunleye had been recommended for discharge on medical grounds since 2022, but the Nigerian Army provided her with the best possible medical treatment before discharging her into civilian life.
